WhatsApp Marketing in Qatar: Conversion, Not Broadcast

Two things are worth separating before anything else. Sending unsolicited messages to a purchased list is not what this page is about, and it is a good way to get a number banned. What this page is about is making it easy for people who already want to reach you to do so, and then being able to prove it worked.

Done properly that is the highest-return change available to most Qatar businesses. Click-to-WhatsApp cuts cost per lead by 20 to 35% here, and almost nobody has it configured.

Why a form-only website loses enquiries in Qatar

WhatsApp is the default business channel here, in a way it is not in most Western markets. People message suppliers, book appointments, chase quotes and complain on it. A business that offers only a contact form is asking customers to switch to a channel they use less and trust less.

A form also asks for commitment before the question. Somebody deciding between three clinics wants to ask what an implant costs before handing over a name, an email and a phone number. The form says answer four questions and wait. A chat says ask your question. One of those converts a browser and the other filters them out.

This is why WhatsApp sits on every page of this site, ahead of the form, not as a floating afterthought.

What it covers

What a proper setup includes

Most businesses install WhatsApp Business, set a profile photo and stop. The rest of it is where the value is.

  • The business profile itself

Category, description, address or service area, website, and hours. This is what people see before they message.
  • Business hours reflecting Sunday to Thursday

, with the Friday prayer gap around 11am to 1pm handled. An away message that says "we will reply on Monday" in a country where Sunday is a working day reads as an outsider and costs enquiries.
  • A greeting message that answers the obvious first question

Not "thanks for your message, we will respond shortly", which tells the person nothing. Something closer to "most jobs are quoted within the hour, and callouts in Doha are QAR 150 before parts". Half of enquirers are price-checking, and answering that immediately keeps the serious ones talking.
  • Quick replies for the three things everyone asks

Every business has them. Writing them once saves typing the same paragraph forty times and makes the answers consistent.
  • Labels

, so an enquiry can be tracked from new to quoted to won without a spreadsheet.
  • A catalogue

, where the business sells products rather than services. It removes the step where somebody has to browse the website and come back.
  • The profile link and QR code

, placed where people already are: the website, the Google Business Profile, invoices, receipts and vehicle signage.

Click-to-WhatsApp in ads

This is the part with the hard number attached, and it works on both platforms.

In Google Ads, the message extension turns a search result into a conversation. Somebody searching for an emergency repair at 10pm gets to ask rather than call a stranger or fill a form.

In Meta ads, click-to-WhatsApp campaigns are among the better performing formats in this region, because the entire path stays inside apps people already have open.

The 20 to 35% cost-per-lead improvement comes from removing friction, not from clever targeting. It is a structural gain, which is why it holds across categories.

Measuring it, which is where most setups fail

A WhatsApp click that nobody tracks is a conversion you cannot prove, and it is the reason many businesses believe the channel does not work for them.

Tracking it properly means a click event on every WhatsApp link on the site, that event passed into GA4 as a conversion rather than sitting in a report nobody opens, the Google Ads and Meta conversions configured to match, and the landing page recorded so you know which page produced the conversation.

Without this the channel is invisible. Forms get measured because they are easy to measure, so budget follows forms, while the channel actually producing enquiries goes unrecorded. Fixing the measurement often changes where a business spends before anything else changes.

The API, and why you probably do not need it

WhatsApp Business API gets sold hard in this region. For most small businesses it is unnecessary.

The free WhatsApp Business app handles a single number, one person answering, catalogues, quick replies, labels and away messages. That covers a clinic, a salon, a maintenance company or a restaurant comfortably.

The API becomes worth it when several people need to answer the same number at once, when conversations must sit inside a CRM, or when you are sending genuine transactional notifications like booking confirmations at volume. It costs more, needs a provider, and adds per-conversation charges.

If someone is selling you the API for a two-person business, ask which of those three things you need.

Response time, and what four hours costs

Speed matters more on WhatsApp than on email because the expectation is different. A message feels like a conversation, and a conversation that goes unanswered for four hours has ended.

In practice somebody comparing three providers messages all three. The first to reply usually wins, and the third often gets no reply to their reply. Within the hour during working hours is the target worth setting, and an honest away message outside them is better than silence.

This is also an argument against volume. A business that cannot answer within an hour should not drive more enquiries into a channel it cannot service.

The numbers

What this costs

Service QAR
WhatsApp conversion setup, one-off 2,500
Ongoing management and optimisation 900 per month
Analytics and tracking setup, if none exists 2,900 one-off

The setup covers the business profile, hours, greeting and away messages, quick replies, labels, catalogue where relevant, the site and profile placements, click-to-WhatsApp configured in your ad accounts, and the tracking so the channel is measurable.

The monthly is optional and suits a business running ads continuously. A single-location business with no ad spend usually needs the one-off and nothing further. Nothing is hidden: the pricing page has the lot.

Questions

Questions we get asked

Can you send bulk messages to a list for me?

No. Unsolicited bulk messaging violates WhatsApp's terms, gets numbers banned, and damages a brand with the people it reaches. Anyone offering it is selling you a short-term result and a medium-term problem.

Do I need a separate number?

It is strongly recommended. A personal number mixes business and personal conversation, cannot be handed to staff, and is awkward to transfer if the person leaves. A dedicated business number is a small monthly cost.

Will this work if I answer in Arabic and English?

Yes, and it should. Quick replies can be written in both, and answering in the language the customer opened with is the single easiest courtesy available. Rankly does not write Arabic copy, so those replies would be written by someone you supply.

How long does the setup take?

About a week, most of which is agreeing the greeting, quick replies and hours with you rather than technical work.

What if I already have WhatsApp Business installed?

Then most of the fee is the parts that were skipped: the tracking, the ad integration and the messages. An audit of what is already there comes first, and sometimes the honest answer is that you need two hours of consulting instead of the full setup.

Whether it is worth QAR 2,500 for you

Enquiry volume is what decides this, so include roughly how many you handle a week along with your website and the number you use for business.

Within two working days you get the answer in writing. Businesses already running WhatsApp Business often need two hours of consulting rather than the full setup, and that option is priced on the same reply.
