Working out what you need

Digital Marketing in Qatar When One Line of Six Is Earning

There is a monthly invoice behind a lot of these enquiries, and yours may look like it. Six lines: social, SEO, ads, content, design, reporting. One number at the bottom, usually somewhere between QAR 8,000 and QAR 15,000, and nobody can tell you which of the six produced last month's enquiries.

Assume two of your six are doing nothing. On a QAR 12,000 retainer that is QAR 4,000 a month of yours, QAR 48,000 a year, spent on work you would not miss if it stopped tomorrow. It never stops because nobody can prove which two they are.

That is the real problem most people bring to a digital marketing agency in Qatar, and it is a measurement problem wearing a strategy problem's clothes.

What it covers

Three situations, and the spend each one deserves

Almost every Qatar business sits in one of three, and each one wants your money spent differently.

  • People are already searching for what you sell

Somebody in Doha types "AC maintenance near me" or "orthodontist West Bay" with a wallet open. The job is to be there, which is search, and here that usually means the map pack long before it means anything else.
  • Nobody knows the thing exists

You have opened something new, or you sell something people do not think to look for. Demand has to be manufactured rather than caught, which is paid social and Google Ads. Both work immediately and both stop on the day the card does.
  • People arrive and leave

Traffic is fine and nothing converts. No amount of search or paid fixes that, and buying more of either first means paying for a larger audience to watch the same page fail. The website and the enquiry path come first.
Do people search for what you sell?YesNoSearch compoundsSlower, and it keepsearning after you stoppaying for it.Can ads carry it?YesNoAds, nowNeitherImmediate, and it stopsthe day the budget does. Some businessesdo not have enoughdemand to justify one.Hearing this in the first conversation is cheaperthan hearing it in month six.
Which channel the situation actually calls for. Sometimes the answer is ads before search, and sometimes it is neither yet.

Most owners guess wrong about which one they are in, and that guess is what your six-line invoice was built on. Working it out takes about fifteen minutes and costs you nothing.

The tracking that says which line to cut

Before anything gets cancelled, something has to be counted.

The common state of a Qatar SME account is conversions counted as page views, your WhatsApp taps and phone calls unrecorded entirely, and no record of which page or campaign an enquiry came through. Forms get measured because forms are easy to measure, so your budget migrates quietly toward forms while the channel actually producing conversations stays invisible.

A tracking setup costs QAR 2,900 once. It regularly changes the answer to every other question on this page, and it is the difference between cutting the line that was wasting money and cutting the one that was carrying the account.

If you do nothing else after reading this page, do that, with whoever you like. Send your site and the list of what you currently pay for, and you get a written read on what is measurable today, inside two working days, at no cost to you. The free audit is where that goes.

One enquiry firing three tags. The account reports three conversions, cost per conversion reads a third of the real figure, and the budget decision is made on it.

What one senior person covers

Done directly, by Arbaz:

  • Search: technical, content, local and AI search visibility
  • Google Ads strategy, build and management
  • Paid social strategy, campaign management and measurement
  • Websites built to rank, and conversion work on the site you already have
  • Analytics and tracking, which most accounts here have wrong or absent
  • WhatsApp treated as a measured conversion channel

Through a vetted production network, reviewed before it reaches you:

  • Graphic design, brand identity, company profiles, presentations
  • Video editing, working from clips you supply
  • Arabic design adaptation

Not available at all:

  • Photography and videography shot in Qatar. That needs somebody in Doha holding a camera, and Rankly works alongside yours instead of pretending otherwise.
  • Influencer management. Relationship-driven and location-dependent, so it gets referred out rather than marked up.
  • Arabic copywriting. The design, typesetting and layout are delivered. The original writing needs a native Arabic writer.
  • Printing, fabrication and installation. Design only, with a local supplier doing the rest.
  • Anything requiring a Qatar commercial registration, government tenders included.

That second and third list is the useful part, because every agency in Doha claims all fifteen services and nobody has fifteen specialists.

The generalist problem, in plain terms

A full-service shop puts a junior on each channel and a director in the pitch. Nobody in that office does any single channel all day, which is why the reporting arrives as a dashboard and not as an opinion.

What you are offered here runs the other way round. One senior specialist on the channels above, partners for the crafts that need different hands, and a hard limit on how many accounts run at once. You give up a single invoice covering everything and a department to blame. You get the person who scoped your work doing your work every month.

Paid media is worth a specific note, because it burns money faster than anything else when run badly. Management is a flat QAR 2,900, with no percentage taken from your ad spend, because a percentage pays an agency more for spending more of your money. If your budget is under QAR 3,000 a month, the honest recommendation is to put it somewhere else, and that is what you will hear.

The numbers

What this costs

Service QAR
SEO retainer 2,900 to 9,900 per month
Google Ads management 2,900 per month, flat
Paid social management 2,900 per month
Business website build 6,500 to 14,000
Analytics and tracking setup 2,900 one-off
WhatsApp conversion setup 2,500, then 900 per month

Combined work is quoted to you as one monthly figure rather than stacked line items, which is the opposite of the invoice at the top of this page and deliberately so. Qatar's 5% withholding applies to cross-border invoicing, so a published QAR 5,900 retainer is invoiced at QAR 6,211, of which you hold back QAR 311 for the General Tax Authority. The full set of figures sits on the pricing page.

Thirty days' notice on everything. No lock-in anywhere.

Questions

Questions we get asked

Search or ads first?

Ads for enquiries this month, search for enquiries two years from now without paying per click. Ads first is also the practical order, because a month of real conversion data shows which terms produce customers before you spend half a year ranking for them.

Can I buy one thing rather than a retainer?

Yes. A tracking setup, an ads audit at QAR 3,900 or a website project all stand on their own, and a fair number of relationships begin that way and stop there.

We only want social media. Is that a problem?

No, but read the social media page before you decide, because it sets a limit that matters: no photography, no videography, no influencer work. If your social problem is really a content production problem, a local shooter is worth more to you than Rankly is.

What would make you turn the work down?

A category with no search demand behind it, a budget under the paid floor with nothing else to spend it on, or a business that needs a supplier in the room for weekly meetings. All three come up, and all three get said in the first conversation rather than the sixth invoice.

How many clients do you take?

A handful at a time. When capacity is full you are told that instead of being queued quietly behind somebody else's account.

Working out which of the three you are

Send the website, one line on what you sell, and which of the three situations above sounds closest to yours. The reply lands within two working days and it names a channel, not a package.

If none of the three fits, describe what is actually happening. You will get an opinion rather than a proposal, and WhatsApp is the faster route for that kind of question.
