Running Google Ads in Qatar Without Wasting the Budget
Google holds about 98% of search in Qatar, so paid search here is one platform rather than three. That simplifies the work and it raises the stakes, because there is nowhere else for the budget to go.
Most Qatar accounts that arrive for review are losing money in the same three places: no working conversion tracking, traffic landing on a homepage, and no click-to-WhatsApp. All three are fixable in a week.
The fee, stated plainly
Management is QAR 2,900 a month, flat. There is no percentage markup on ad spend.
Percentage models are standard in this region and they are quietly misaligned. An agency earning 15% of spend earns more by spending more of your money, and has no financial reason to tell you that your budget is too high or that half of it should move to search instead. A flat fee removes that.
Your ad budget goes directly to Google on your own billing, in your own account, which you own. If the relationship ends you keep the account, the history and the data.
| Service | QAR |
|---|---|
| Google Ads management | 2,900 per month, flat |
| Google Ads audit and rebuild, one-off | 3,900 |
| Landing page build | 2,200 each |
| Analytics and tracking setup | 2,900 one-off |
Every price across every service line sits on the pricing page.
The honest minimum
Below QAR 3,000 a month in ad spend, do not run Google Ads in Qatar.
At QAR 1,500 you are buying too few clicks to learn anything. The account never gathers enough conversion data to optimise against, so it stays in permanent guesswork while the management fee eats a third of the total. That money does more in a Google Business Profile clean-up at QAR 2,200, or in three months of local SEO.
Realistic floors by category:
| Category | Monthly ad spend |
|---|---|
| Local services, single category | QAR 3,000 to 5,000 |
| Multi-service or multi-location | QAR 5,000 to 8,000 |
| Real estate, legal, medical | QAR 8,000 to 15,000+ |
Property, legal and medical are the expensive ones here because the customer value is high and everyone knows it. If you are in one of those and your budget is QAR 3,000, the money is better spent on search.
Click-to-WhatsApp, the highest-return change available
Click-to-WhatsApp extensions cut cost per lead by 20 to 35% in Qatar. Almost nobody has them configured.
The reason is straightforward. WhatsApp is the default business channel here, so an ad that opens a chat removes the step where somebody has to fill a form or make a phone call to a stranger. A form asks a person to commit before they have asked their question. A chat lets them ask first.
Setting this up properly means more than switching on the extension. It needs the business profile configured, a greeting message that answers the obvious first question, quick replies for the three things everyone asks, business hours reflecting Sunday to Thursday, and the click tracked as a conversion so you can actually prove it works. That last part is the one that gets skipped, which is why most businesses running it cannot tell whether it helped.
The WhatsApp page covers the setup in full.
Landing pages, and the homepage mistake
Sending paid traffic to a homepage wastes most of the budget. It is the single most common structural error in the accounts that arrive here.
A homepage introduces a company. Somebody who clicked an ad for emergency air conditioning repair at 10pm does not want an introduction. They want the price, the response time, and a way to make contact in one tap. Every extra decision between the click and the enquiry costs a share of the people who arrived.
One landing page per campaign, matching what the ad promised, with a single action on it. At QAR 2,200 a page this is usually the cheapest improvement available to an account already spending QAR 5,000 a month.
Conversion tracking, which is usually broken
Most Qatar SME accounts measure nothing usable. The common failures:
- Conversions counted as page views, so every visitor is a lead
- Form submissions tracked but phone calls and WhatsApp clicks ignored, in a market where both outnumber forms
- Duplicate conversions inflating results two or three times over
- Nothing configured at all, with the account optimising toward clicks
An account with broken tracking has been optimising toward the wrong outcome for as long as it has run, and every reported result from it is fiction. A tracking setup at QAR 2,900 frequently changes the answer to every other question about the account.
The Qatar calendar
Ramadan
is the commercial peak. Budgets should rise 30 to 50%, browsing moves late into the evening, and ad scheduling needs to follow. Creative should be prepared three months out instead of the week before.Eid
is the sharpest spike of the year for retail and food.Qatar National Day, 18 December
, shows elevated engagement worth planning for.June to August
, much of the expatriate population is out of the country. Consumer demand drops, and holding full budget through it is how money disappears quietly. The working week is Sunday to Thursday
Ad scheduling set to a Western week is bidding hardest on the two days Qatar is not working.
Ads or SEO first
Ads buy results immediately and stop the day the budget stops. Search compounds and takes months. The fair answer depends on what you need.
Enquiries needed this month means ads. Enquiries still arriving in two years without a click fee means search. Most businesses eventually run both, and ads first is often the right order for a second reason: a month of ad data tells you which keywords actually convert before you spend six months earning rankings for them.
Questions we get asked
Can you take over an existing account?
Yes, starting with the QAR 3,900 audit, not an immediate rebuild. The audit tells you what is salvageable, and sometimes the answer is that the account structure is fine and only the tracking was wrong.
Do I have to give you my billing details?
No. The account stays in your name with your own billing, and management access is granted rather than ownership transferred.
What if the ads do not work?
Then we find out quickly, which is the one advantage paid search has over everything else. Two to four weeks of real data at a sensible budget tells you whether the economics work. If they do not, the honest recommendation is to stop, and that has happened.
Do you run Meta and Instagram ads too?
Yes, as paid social at QAR 2,900 a month, with the scope limits set out on the social media page. No photography, videography or influencer work.
How quickly can a campaign go live?
About a week for a straightforward account, assuming tracking is in place and there is a landing page to send traffic to. If either is missing, that gets fixed first, because launching without them wastes the first month's budget.
Before you spend anything
What a customer is worth to you is the number that decides this, so send that along with the website and the account if there is one. Budgets below the floor on this page get a suggestion of where the money works harder instead.
Two working days, in writing, and a proposal only if the arithmetic supports one.
