Social Media Marketing in Qatar That Produces Enquiries
Three posts a week for a year is about a hundred and fifty pieces of content. Somebody wrote them, somebody designed them, somebody on your side approved them, and an agency invoiced you roughly QAR 4,000 a month for it, which is QAR 48,000 across the year.
Now open your enquiry log and find one customer you can trace to any of the hundred and fifty. Most Qatar businesses cannot produce a single one, and the reason is not that your posts were bad.
A year of posts and an empty column
Organic reach on business content has been falling across every platform for a decade. Three posts a week to your few hundred followers reaches mostly people who already know you, so the ceiling sits low before anybody argues about the creative.
That does not make your profile worthless. It is the shop window somebody checks after finding you elsewhere, and one last updated in 2023 costs you the sale at precisely that moment. It is a hygiene job and it should be priced like one. Sold to you as growth, on the strength of a scheduling calendar, it is QAR 48,000 a year against a column nobody can fill in.
Money moves in social media marketing in Qatar where the reach is bought and the result is counted. Everything below is about that.
What is not available here
Worth reading before the rest, because it decides whether this page is any use to you.
Rankly does not shoot photography, does not shoot video, does not manage influencers and does not produce content on the ground in Qatar. All four need a person standing in Doha, and no amount of remote coordination replaces that.
If what your business lacks is somebody making good material about it, a local shooter is worth more to you right now than any strategy anybody can sell you. You are being told that here rather than in month two.
Where the audience actually is
Social penetration in Qatar runs at roughly 94.3%, which is close to everybody. The useful question is not whether your customers are on these platforms but which one suits what you sell.
Instagram
is the default commercial platform in this market. Food, salons, fitness, retail, clinics and property live on it, and for a good number of Qatar businesses the profile does the work of the menu, the storefront and the review page combined. It is frequently more current than the website.Snapchat
has far deeper reach in the Gulf than Western comparisons suggest, skewing younger and more local. If your customers include Qatari nationals under thirty, it deserves a serious line in your plan rather than an afterthought.TikTok
buys reach and younger attention, and it depends more than any other platform on original local production, which is the thing listed above as unavailable here.LinkedIn
for B2B, professional services, contracting and recruitment. Small volumes, much larger value per contact.Facebook
still carries real weight with several of Qatar's largest expatriate communities, and gets dismissed by agencies chasing whatever launched most recently.
What is actually bought
Paid campaign strategy and management
across Meta platforms, with audience and creative testing actually run, rather than one ad set left alive for six months.Conversion tracking that functions
, WhatsApp taps included, because that is where most Qatar social conversion lands and where almost nobody is counting.Landing pages
for campaigns to point at, QAR 2,200 each, since paid traffic aimed at a homepage wastes most of itself.Content strategy
, meaning what should be made and why, which is a separate job from making it.Reporting against enquiries
rather than against likes and saves.Direction of your production partner
If you have a photographer or a videographer, their output gets planned and used properly. If you do not, that introduction is the first thing worth arranging for you.
Your ad budget goes to the platform on your own billing, and management is a flat monthly fee rather than a percentage of what you spend.
The four dates that decide the year
Ramadan is the peak, and the work for it belongs three months earlier. Engagement moves into the late evening, spending rises, and creative approved a week before it starts has already missed the run-up. Eid then outsells every other week of the year in retail, food and gifting.
June to August empties Doha of a large part of its expatriate population, so holding your full budget through it means paying to reach people who are in another country. Cut your paid spend through July, keep the profile alive, and put the saving into the pre-autumn build.
Qatar National Day on 18 December brings elevated engagement and a strong national feeling that brands tend to handle either well or badly with not much in between. And the week itself runs Sunday to Thursday, so a calendar built on a Western one spends its strongest slots on the two days the country has stopped.
Arabic creative, and the price of skipping it
Arabic reaches an audience most advertisers here are ignoring, and it reaches them cheaply. Paid search in Qatar shows Arabic clicks landing 30 to 60% below the English equivalent against much thinner competition, and paid social behaves in much the same way.
Rankly does not write Arabic creative. Yours should come from a native writer, and that recommendation stands whether or not you find the writer through us. An Arabic reader identifies machine translation immediately, and it reads as indifference rather than effort.
What this costs
| Service | QAR |
|---|---|
| Paid social management | 2,900 per month, flat |
| Landing page build | 2,200 each |
| Analytics and tracking setup | 2,900 one-off |
| Monthly content kit, through the production network | 3,800 per month |
The content kit is graphics and short-form edits made by a vetted production network and reviewed before any of it reaches you. It does not include original photography or video shot in Qatar. Cross-border invoices in Qatar carry a 5% withholding, so QAR 2,900 is invoiced as QAR 3,053 with QAR 153 held back by you for the General Tax Authority. Every other figure is published on the pricing page.
Thirty days' notice, and if you want to know whether QAR 2,900 of paid management beats QAR 2,900 of posting in your category, send the profiles and ask. That answer is free and takes two working days.
Questions we get asked
Can you just run our Instagram?
Not in the sense that usually means. Daily posting built on original photographs of your premises, your food or your staff needs somebody local with a camera. Strategy, paid campaigns, graphics through the production network and measurement are all available. The honest question is which of those is the thing actually missing.
How much should we put behind the ads?
Below about QAR 3,000 a month the campaign never collects enough conversion data to improve, which is the same floor that applies to Google Ads. Competitive categories want more than that before they are worth starting.
Is organic posting a waste of money, then?
For most small businesses, sold as a growth service, largely yes. As an up-to-date profile that reassures somebody who found you through search or a recommendation, no. The mistake is paying growth prices for a hygiene job, and it is a common one here.
Should we work with influencers?
Frequently yes, in Qatar, where the market is active and built on relationships. It is also the most presence-dependent work there is, so it gets referred out rather than marked up quietly through a third party.
Can you fix the tracking so we can tell whether any of this works?
Yes, and it is usually the first thing worth buying. Most Qatar SME accounts cannot connect an enquiry to a channel, which means every budget decision made so far has been made on instinct.
Say what you want more of
Send the profiles, and name the thing you want more of: enquiries, bookings, footfall, or recognition in a category where nobody knows you yet. Those are four different jobs and the answer depends entirely on which one you pick.
Two working days for a written reply with the channel recommendation and the monthly figure attached. WhatsApp if you would rather ask a question first than fill in anything.
