What the panel shows

Ahrefs records 22,300 organic sessions a month from 23,400 ranking keywords, with 952 terms in the top three, which is the highest top three count on this site. Domain Rating is 40 on 2,800 referring domains. Estimated traffic value is $18,100 a month.

The capture runs to March 2024. Across that year the line starts around twenty two thousand, dips through the middle of the period, recovers in the winter, and ends around twenty two thousand.

Referring domains nearly doubled and traffic did not move

This is the part worth sitting with. Over the same twelve months the referring domain count climbed steeply, roughly from fifteen hundred toward twenty eight hundred. Traffic did not follow.

If links were the lever they are usually sold as, that line would have moved. It did not, which in this category suggests the site was already ranking for what it could rank for, and the constraint was the size of the addressable demand rather than the strength of the domain.

It is a useful corrective to the car rental project on this site, which did the opposite: four times the traffic on a link profile a tenth the size. The two together say the same thing from opposite directions, which is that links are neither the gate nor the engine most proposals imply.

Holding position is not nothing

Categories move. Competitors publish, aggregators expand, and a site that does nothing usually loses ground, which is exactly what the dental project here shows.

Ending a year level, in a category with real competition, means the ground was defended. That is a legitimate outcome and it is worth paying for. It is also not growth, and calling it growth would be the kind of reframing this site exists to argue against.

What it does not tell you

Why it was flat. Without the account it is not possible to say whether this was a maintenance engagement doing exactly what it was asked to do, a growth engagement that stalled, or a category with nothing left in it.

The audience is 94.6% United States. Freight buying habits vary a good deal by market, and in the Gulf a large share of the equivalent demand moves through personal contacts and WhatsApp rather than a search box.

What flat is worth knowing about

If your reporting only shows lines going up, ask what it looks like in a month when nothing improved. A provider who cannot show you a flat month has either never had one or is not showing you all of them.

The monthly reporting described on the SEO services page says a flat month plainly, which is a lower bar than it sounds and one most reports do not clear.
